Lost Odyssey: The Book of Knowledge Weaves an Epic Tale of Adventure in Dungeons & Dragons Charity Event
“There is power to be found in the theater of the mind…”
On November 15th, a group of brave adventurers gathered on the stage of the Alex Theater in Glendale, CA to partake in an epic quest- to raise funding and awareness for the Autism Society of America through a heroic Dungeons & Dragons campaign.
Lost Odyssey Events hosted the first of its D&D events from the mind of actress and dungeon master Deborah Ann Woll (Daredevil, True Blood), called Lost Odyssey: The Book of Knowledge.
An entire host of celebrity players and RPG community notables answered the call and took a seat at the table, creating a colorful cast of warriors, tinkerers, and taleweavers.
Along with Woll as the game’s leader and NPCs, Satine Phoenix (COTD host and friend of Sideshow) enchanted as the elegant elf Vlahnya Um’Vairar, TJ Storm took on the role of the mysterious Mal’gre Maugre, Matthew Lillard became the bumbling dungeon-delver Beadle, Kate Welch embodied the elderly monk Rosie Beestinger, and Xander Jeanneret personified the potion peddler Rikki Huckster. They were joined by an additional special guest, whose identity we won’t spoil for those fans who plan to watch the 3 hour game unfold. (But trust us- it’s an exciting surprise for TTRPG fans!)
The adventure through the Book of Knowledge and its many pages proved an exciting and imaginative experience, and the players, many of whom play regularly together in other campaigns, had an incredible and entertaining rapport. There were many laugh-out-loud moments as well as expert use of D&D game mechanics throughout the evening. Each player’s character even had their own scene-stealing moment, from fighting off barnyard creatures to setting the battle arena ablaze.
Fans can currently catch the Video On Demand hosted by Roll20, and visit LostOdysseyEvents.com to donate to the ASA fundraiser for a chance to win giveaways from the event’s sponsors, including elements from the show’s set and rewards from Dungeons & Dragons gaming goods retailers.
Sideshow was one of the many sponsors for this amazing event, and we look forward to next year’s story- Lost Odyssey: The Red Scribe! The age of the Taleweaver has just begun, and we cannot wait to see what threads unfurl in the future. It’s a critical hit!
